Uganda can be visited all year, but the seasons shape your trip.
Roads, trekking conditions and wildlife viewing all change with the seasons. Knowing the pattern helps you choose dates that suit what you want to see.
Uganda's two main dry seasons run roughly from December to February and from June to September. Trails are firmer, roads are easier and wildlife often gathers near water, which many travellers find best for game drives and trekking.
Good to know:
- Dry seasons: roughly December to February and June to September.
- Wet seasons: roughly March to May and October to November.
- Gorilla and chimpanzee trekking run all year.
- Game drives are often easier in the dry months.
- The wet months bring greener scenery and fewer visitors.
- Allow extra travel time after heavy rain.
The wetter months bring lush landscapes and quieter parks. Some trails and roads become muddy, so build a little extra time into your plans.
